Where are we going?

We start our journey in the land of the Inuit in the only inhabited settlement in Scoresbysund: Ittoqqortoormiit. About 500 Inuits live here far away from the larger villages and towns on the west coast. They are completely enclosed by the sea ice for nine months a year: an intriguing lifestyle that we will get to know better during this trip.

Greenland has an unmistakable beauty. You’ll notice that as soon as we take you to the most beautiful corners of Scoresbysund. The solitude we experience here, and our proximity to the North Pole, will definitely inspire. This is without a doubt the ultimate photo trip for any landscape photographer who wants to explore the arctic regions with professional guidance.

We sail through beautiful landscapes and ensure that you can photograph as much as you wish. During our trip, the tundra is colored in bright yellow and red colors: a breathtaking contrast with the stark white icebergs in the fjords. We also meet a lot of animals, so keep that lens ready! You’ll see whales, seals, muskoxes, mountain hares, different species of geese and maybe even a polar bear. In September we enjoy a beautiful low sunlight, allowing us to photograph the entire day. Nice bonus: we start the journey under a full moon, which guarantees stunning illumination during the night.

Our route will be determined by wind, weather, ice and wildlife. This assures many amazing surprises. We might even get to see the northern lights!

Ship

MS Freya

We work exclusively with small, ice-strengthened vessels that we have chosen carefully for our trips in the high Arctic. The MS Freya is one of our trusted ships. Built in 1980 for the Swedish Coast Guard, this ship ensured that the beacons and lighthouses worked in good order, moving through very tough weather and ice. She classifies as an ice-strengthened ship under Lloyd’s highest class. Today, Freya sails in Arctic waters almost year-round. When she’s not in Svalbard, you might find her exploring the waters around Iceland, Greenland or northern Norway. This ship will safely take you to places other expedition ships never visit. Traveling in a small group will offer you a truly intimate experience of the beautiful Arctic surroundings. The ship has comfortable double cabins fitted with 220-volt European standard outlets. All cabins feature an ensuite WC and shower and are cleaned daily by the ship’s crew. There…
